Misusing the Word "Human"

Why is it that when people screw up we say, “Oh, well, they’re only human.”

Why do we attach “human” to failure?

They failed? Oh, that’s a human thing.

Why?

(Don't get me wrong. Failing is a very human thing to do. And it's nothing to be ashamed of.)

But when people do something good, when they make the world a better place, when they dazzle us with their awesomeness, why don’t we say, “Hey. All right! Very human.”

Wouldn't that make just as much sense?
